Constitutional Disputes

The jurisdiction of the Federal Constitutional Court may also be invoked if differences of opinion arise between constitutional bodies or between the Federation and the Länder (Federal States) regarding their mutual constitutional rights and duties (Organstreit proceedings, State-Federal conflicts). In Organstreit proceedings, the matters at issue may concern questions of political party law, electoral or parliamentary law. State-Federal conflicts frequently have to do with questions of competence.
